Autoplant Ltd had been commissioned to complete a chassis extension and fabrication to a curtain side Lorry and transform it into Mobile SMR Unit

Initial stage:

On arrival at our Bucklesham depot, our engineers got to work on removing the rear body section from the lorry. Once it had been removed it was taken to our Rendlesham workshop were the transformation began.

Chassis Extension:

Chassis extension and modifications may sound simple, but can often be very complex.  Our team of fabricators worked stringently within manufacturers guidelines to ensure that both top quality and safety was met to accommodate SMR Hopper.

Modifications and Fabrication:

Major modifications were made to aluminium tank fuel / water. Comprehensive pipe and valve work carried out. Fabricate and fit SMR hopper, fabrication of brackets, hand rails around working platform including step ladders to access platform. Modifications to rear tail conveyor to suit shortened collect conveyor. Further various fabrications work for deflection guards, mounts for pressure washer, brackets and mounts for under run bars.

Body and Paint Technicians carry out shot blasting of chassis and cab:

Before surface coating it is important to strip any imperfections, old paint, rust and any other contaminants from the surface. This is an important step in the surface coating preparation, as it cleans a substrate and creates a surface that will hold a protective coating.

When reproducing corporate colours, logos and signage for any business it is essential to get it right. Our team of paint and workshop technicians used their step by step approach, creative flare and skills to perfectly reflect the professional image of Richardson Recycling. Time and preparation for each step is crucial to achieve such results.

“What an amazing piece of kit, capable of up to 100 tonne an hour. Fully self – sufficient and self -loading with a fully enclosed cab which raises above for full visibility offering more safety and comfort for the operatives. A massive thank you to all the team at Autoplant Ltd for all their hardwork!”
