Full job description
We are currently seeking a Yard Operative to join our expanding team at Autoplant Ltd.
Main Purpose of the role
Carrying out general labouring around the yard and desans, working outside in all weathers. All according to instructions from the workshop manager and complying with health & safety policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Keeping the yard & workshop clean, tidy and orderly at all times to allow safe movement of personnel and equipment.
- Carrying out desans of trailers and vehicle washes prior to MOTs, following approved company procedures at all times.
- Tidying & maintaining the stores department.
- Responsible for ensuring tasks are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with applicable company procedures.
- Ensure allocated equipment, tools etc are used in a safe and correct manner and not subject to misuse.
- The job holder may be required to carry out any other related or associated roles, tasks or duties, which they can be trained, instructed and supervised to do safely and according to changing business requirements.
Person Specification
Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of a workshop environment.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Skills & Competencies:
- HGV licence is advantageous but not essential.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Experience:
- Previous work experience in a yard or similar outdoor work environment is essential.
- Prior experience with manual handling, including the safe operation of equipment and tools.
Personal Qualities:
- Good working attitude, reliable and punctual.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and be a self-starter.
- Willingness to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to various weather conditions.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects when required.
